Who we are
Awita New York Design is a Brooklyn-based studio where jewelry, art, and creative experiences come together through intentional craftsmanship.
Founded by artist and designer Gulsum Keskinoglu, whose background spans sculpture, painting, and ceramics, the studio’s practice is rooted in a sculptural way of thinking. The work centers on sculptural, unisex jewelry with a preference for bold, chunky forms. Each piece is hand-carved in wax and cast in metal, embracing weight, texture, and presence. Rather than delicate ornamentation, the designs celebrate solid shapes and tactile surfaces — allowing the material and process to remain visible.
In addition to made-to-order jewelry, Awita New York Design offers permanent jewelry services and hosts intimate studio experiences, including workshops, charm bar nights, and live drawing sessions. The studio operates within a working art space, where design, making, and community exist side by side.
Every piece and experience is approached with care, patience, and respect for process — creating objects meant to be worn, lived with, and returned to over time.
Open Studio Practice
For those who want to practice their jewelry-making independently, the studio offers monthly bookable open studio sessions. These sessions are not instructional classes and are intended for self-guided work and focused practice.
